1999 Water Year Data Collection Sites

This table lists the active data collection sites in Washington operated by the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) in conjunction with USGS cooperators for investigations into the water resources of the study area(s). Most of these stations are operated for a few years or less, for the duration of the study.

Sites are operated for realtime, continuous, routine or intermittent data collection. The category of data collected at each site are listed in the table (see footnotes for description). The data are available from the USGS Public Information Officer.

Notes And Description:

The sites listed in this table are of several types:

  1. Active realtime data-collection sites are sites with Data Collection Platforms (DCP) for satellite telemetry using the Geostationary Orbiting Environmental Satellite (GOES) operated by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) National Environmental Satellite Distributed Information Service (NESDIS); these are designated by the RS abbreviation.
  2. Active DCP sites, see (1) above, where data are made available directly to selected cooperators in realtime are designated by the DR abbreviation.
  3. Active continuous or discrete data-collection sites operated in Washington or Oregon by USGS Washington Water Science Center Field Offices (Pasco, Spokane, and Tacoma) under the cooperative programs; these are designated by the Field Office abbreviation PAS, SPO, and TAC, respectively.
  4. Active continuous data-collection sites operated by other WRD Offices (Portland, Oregon and Cascade Volcano Observatory, Vancouver) in the state of Washington for the USGS Washington Water Science Center or the Regional Research Office; these are designated by the Office abbreviation POR and CVO, respectively.
  5. Active continuous data-collection sites operated by Washington District Investigations Section for analytical and interpretative purposes asso- ciated with projects; these are designated by the respective project abbreviation ICE or INV.
