A Bibliographical Preface

These bibliographical resources were collected by the U.S. Geological Survey from June to October 1999. They have not been evaluated for scope, accuracy, or validity, and they have not been summarized. But they have been in a cursory manner examined to determine what technical elements of ESHB 2514 they may contain, what associated rivers or creeks of the Elwha-Morse Creek Watershed they may name, and what Keywords may be useful for searching them.

The technical elements covered by these bibliographical resources include Water Quantity, Habitat, Water Quality, and Instream Flows, as defined in ESHB 2514. The rivers and creeks named are Elwha River, Lyre River, Deep Creek, Bagley Creek, Morse Creek, Ennis Creek, Peabody Creek, Lees Creek, White Creek, Valley Creek, Tumwater Creek, and Dry Creek. The Keywords include such terms as anadromous fish, coho salmon, pink salmon, steelhead, pH, and dissolved oxygen.

The bibliographical resources have been annotated with their pertinent technical elements, associated rivers, and Keywords so that readers can more easily locate their interests by using their web browser's search feature.

Paper copies of many of the listed bibliographical documents, including all the documents from Peninsula College (Port Angeles, Wash.) and the USGS, are in the possession of the initiating governments - Clallam County, the Lower Elwha Klallam Tribe, and the City of Port Angeles. Other listed documents may be obtained from the appropriate initiating government or from the authors or publishers.

Daishowa America Company Ltd. has 70 years of streamflow, water temperature, air temperature, and precipitation data that was collected at Elwha Dam (McDonald Bridge) and Glines Canyon Dam. A correction factor needs to be applied to measurements at McDonald Bridge if the discharge is less than 1,200 cubic feet per second. For more information, contact Daishowa America Company Ltd., Washington. These data are not available in digital form.
